What We Do

Supporting Each Other

Getting by in a world designed for the cisgender majority is tough work for us trans people. From free snacks at (in-person) meetings and a sense of community and purpose, to dedicated trans swim nights in partnership with SPECTRUM, the GVWG does whatever we can to make it a little easier to be trans in the Region of Waterloo and Wellington.

Educating Social Service Providers

Research has shown that trans-identified individuals are in greater need of a variety of social service supports, yet often avoid them for fear of overt or accidental discrimination. Even when everyone at a workplace has good intentions, often structural factors make it difficult for us to make use of what the Region has to offer. Learn how to improve the accessibility of your organization's services to the trans people who need them!
